- A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who migrated from nations like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Burma, Kenya, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zaire, and Zambia with the intention of permanently settling in the country. A citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India prior to 1 January 1962.
